The true follower of Christ will not ask, "If I embrace this truth, what will it cost me?" Rather he will say, "This is truth. God help me to walk in it, let come what may!"

How Did You Come To Believe in Jesus?

Thought folks might have a chance to share where they are coming from and tell their story!

A Long and Winding Road

Post by SpiritRider on Fri Sep 11, 2009 7:35 pm

1 Cross + 3 Nails = 4Given

Hey John, For me it was a long road, but as they say all roads lead to Rome and in my case all roads led to Jesus! I turned a bit left and a bit right, but there was no escaping the calling in my heart. I'd gone to church and tried to understand as a kid, but didn't get it. Then later when problems came up and things seemed hopeless, it was then I remembered much of what I had heard before. When at about 14 I hit a real crisis in my Life I didn't know where to turn and I knew I was a piece of mud and unworthy of any kind of hope, at my lowest point I finally broke down in my room and asked Jesus to please forgive me and help me and save me and he did. It was like a huge weight was taken off my shoulders and hope replaced despair and I was able to pick up and continue living. It took years before I could understand it all, but I think it was that one heartbreaking moment of desperation when this desperate kid cried out for forgiveness that I really knew Jesus.

Not the Jesus of traditions and stories and books, but the personal Jesus that died for me and for all my sins and mistakes. Some people say what a great moment it was, da, da, da, but it wasn't that for me. It was the exhilaration of someone who has just survived a plane crash or a car wreck or a fire, I was just so relieved to be saved and loved. And though I knew I wasn't worth loving, I knew that Jesus did Love me. That's what it was for me. You can take a horse to water, but you can't make him drink and you can tell someone all about the Lord, but until they reach out and grab the cup on their own and drink those living waters, well, it doesn't much matter how much we say. They have to want it for themselves, from a hunger inside.

That's how I see it. Good question you asked and I do hope others will share their story. God Bless and Keep!

A Walk In the Woods

Post by Dusty on Thu Sep 17, 2009 11:21 am

I guess what got me was seeing the beauty of creation. Like the Astronauts who flew around the moon and saw earth from a distance... what a beautiful thing! It spoke to me and daily when I see the beauties around me it so confirms there is a God and that he is real! Here's a video that touched my heart and expresses how I feel. A beautiful piece by J&L Ministries.
